EU Youth Speak Website Launched!

On the 9th November 1989, Europe and the World, witnessed a symbolic event – the Fall of Berlin Wall, the most potent symbol of divided Europe and in fact, the divided World.

Today Europe and the world are celebrating the 18th anniversary of this event. It is a “Coming of Age” of the New Europe – a bigger and more united Europe.

A new generation of Europeans was born after the fall of the Wall. We are often described as Erazmus generation and the Europe we live in has fewer borders and greater freedom than the one our parents and grandparents used to live in.

Today many of us are also celebrating our 18th birthday - our Coming of Age. There are reasons for celebration and optimism! We can freely take advantage of borderless Europe and its educational, economic and cultural opportunities.

Today, the International Debate Education Association - IDEA is launching its new on-line project: EU Youth Speak. By establishing this site, we would like to promote debate and discussion on most important European and global issues.

We would like to reach out to young people. Young people are Europe’s cause of optimism and they are Europe’s future - we would like www.euyouthspeak.org to be a place for exchange of ideas and arguments on the current state of Europe and its relations with the rest of the World.
